Stuttgart, GERMANY, October 5, 2008 - Serbia's Jelena Jankovic will regain her world number one ranking after winning Stuttgart's WTA event with a 6-4, 6-3 win over Nadia Petrova of Russia in Sunday's final.
The second-seeded Jankovic earned the triumph for her third title of 2008 and the eighth of her career.
She broke serve in the opening game and that was enough to give her the set against an error-prone Petrova.
The 23-year-old Serb also broke to start the second set, but Petrova broke back to tie it at 3-3. The Russian, however, dropped serve again after a series of errors.
